A law student from GRA, Benin City, Osarieme Anita Omonuwa has placed an official stamp on the common saying that Nigeria is blessed with the best brains in the world – on July 3, Osarieme bagged a First Class degree in Law at Reading University in the United Kingdom.
Miss Omonuwa, 20, who hails from Edo State in Nigeria, also received the 2012 prestigious “Chancellor's Award” of the university for her outstanding academic performance. With this feat, Anita became the first black woman to win the Reading University Chancellor's Award.
"I chose the University of Reading as my brother is a graduate and he loved the student experience. The unprecedented academic standard, diversity of students and above all the location confirmed my decision. Coming to Reading was one of the best decisions I have ever made," Anita said.

Joey Chestnut eats 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes, sets new world record

Joey Chestnut eats 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes, sets new world record

Joey Chestnut won Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest again this year, eating 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes. It was the seventh straight time that Chestnut has won the annual Coney Island event, and the third time in the past six years that he’d set a new world record.
(Totaling up those six contests, Chestnut has eaten 380 hot dogs across six annual 10-minute increments—which means in the equivalent of one hour, he’s devoured more than 110,000 calories, or as many calories as the average person is recommended to consume in nearly two months.)

Paul Okoye accepts baby with 19 year old beauty queen, Elshama?

In May, we all heard that Paul Okoye, the other half of singing sensation P-Square, had welcomed a baby with 19 year old MBGN 2012 contestant, Elshama Igbanoi.
Paul Okoye has never reacted to the story in the press...to either confirm or deny that he is indeed the little boy's father. The boy was born April 7th in the UK, four days before Paul and his girlfriend Anita welcomed their son, Andre, in Atlanta.

Paul at the time told the Igbanoi family that he's going to do a DNA test to ascertain paternity. Maybe he's done it because he has officially acknowledged the boy as his. Continue to see what I mean...

Paul put up a photo of Elshama carrying their son on his BB display picture yesterday..with a kiss and big hug smiley.

Shock As Police Recover 20 Skulls At Aba Dump Site

wpid-police-logo.jpeg

A dumpsite has been discovered near Aba, Abia State, where over 20 human skulls and decomposing bodies, including those of school children were found. The site, which was a horror to behold was located, at about kilometre 15 on the Aba/Azumini Highway at an area called “No man’s land” after Akpaa village in Obingwa Local Government of the state.
The discovery followed the arrest of four policemen attached to the Federal Highway Patrol unit of the Nigeria Police, Aba Section, who allegedly killed a 26-year-old man in Aba.

The policemen led by their officer-in-charge, Hyginus Omeze, who were ordered to be detained by the Area Commander for Aba, Rabiu Dayi were alleged to have murdered one Onyekachi Chukwu, 26 and dumped his body at the site.

Daily Sun gathered that on Sunday June 23 Onyekachi, who hailed from Ahaba Imenyi in Isuikwuato Local Government and lived at No. 47 Ukaegbu Road, went out with his friends to drink in a hotel located on Ekenna Avenue. After spending the day, Onyekachi was said to have decided to pass the night in the house of one of his friends residing also in Ogbor hill.

According to a source, as he made to knock at the gate, the policemen came from nowhere and after beating him, got him arrested. The cops, who were said to have refused all pleas by people residing in the neighbourhood, arrested Onyekachi together with the gate man of the friend’s house and the caretaker and took them to a hotel on Opobo Road, Ogbor hill, which also served as their base.

On getting to the hotel, Daily Sun learnt the policemen left the other two men behind in the hotel and took Onyekachi out in their Toyota Prado SUV and drove towards Azumini. After about one hour, the policemen were said to have come back to the hotel without the young man.

On getting back to the hotel, the policemen took the men they earlier left behind and took them back to where they were earlier arrested and ordered the occupants of the house to wash their vehicle and contribute money for them to replace the bullets, which they claimed they had wasted and the people complied without knowing what the policemen did.

The bubble, however, busted when the relations of Onyekachi, after days of searching for him without success made formal complaint to the police, who swung into action immediately and traced their colleagues, who allegedly committed the dastardly acts to the hotel, where four of them were arrested.

According to Uchechi Chukwu, an elder brother to the deceased, who believed the young man was killed for rituals, going by the way his body was dismembered; it was through the effort of the area commander that the policemen were arrested.

Then the arrested policemen, who were said to have admitted to the crime, took their colleagues to the borrow-pit along the Aba/Azumini Highway, where they dumped the dismembered body of Onyekachi. When Daily Sun visited the borrow-pit at “no man’s land,” where Onyekachi’s body was buried in a shallow grave, the site was a horror to behold, as several human skulls and decomposing bodies, including that of school children.

Also found in the place included a piece of iron zinc which surroundings were splattered with blood and believed to been where Onyekachi was slaughtered and his vital organs removed, according to his relations.

There was equally a human organ believed to be a bladder left on the ground, where the slain man’s body was found and also hand gloves believed to have been worn by those who murdered the man. When contacted on phone, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abia Command, Geoffrey Ogbonna, while confirming the incident, denied that the young man was killed for ritual purposes.

Kogi Councillor Contracted Us To Cut Off His Girlfriend’s Head For Rituals – Suspects

kogi sus

Barely two months after he was declared winner of the recently conducted LG election in Kogi State as a councillor, Yahaya Isah allegedly asked three of his friends, Suleiman Yunusa (35) Isiaka Yunusa (23) and Alifa Maha (17) to bring the head of his girlfriend, 17-year-old Igbere Ogbadu.

We gathered that the head was for money-making rituals.

The men got the fresh head of Ogbadu but were all arrested by the Kogi Police Command when Ogbadu’s parent raised the alarm when the girl could not be found.

The decomposing, headless body of the girl was later found between Achigili and Ofoja village in Ofu Local Government.

Hon. Yahaya Isah however denied knowledge of the dastardly act.

The leader of the three-man gang said that, “ it was the Councillor that sent us to bring the head of the girl but did not tell us what he was going to do with it.”

Explaining how they perpetrated the dastardly act, he said, “the girl was too close to the Councillor as he always beckoned to her anytime she passes in front of his house. He directed us to go and do it. I went to her house to pick her without knowing that people were watching me when we were leaving. I carried her on my motorcycle and headed for Ofoja village. However between Achigili and Ochoja villages, we strangulated her to death.

Three of us did that. .After the strangulation I brought out a very sharp knife with which l cut off her head. She struggled with us but unfortunately for her we overpowered her,” he stated further.
The man at the center of the whole saga, Hon Yahaya Isah, however denied it saying, ” how would l have asked those boys to go and cut the head of the girl for me? What am l going to do with it as a councillor? I never did it.”

Parading the suspects, the State Commissioner of Police, Hilary Opara told newsmen that “ on June 6 at about 2100 hrs one of the suspects, Suleiman Yunusa, came to the family of the deceased, Miss Igbere Ogbadu ,and took her away without the knowledge of the latter’s family. And on 21-06-2013 a decomposing body of the lady was found between Achigili and Ofoja villages in Ofu Local Government Area with the head cut off and some parts removed.

“On receiving this information, the first suspect, Suleiman Yunusa was arrested and he confessed to have killed the lady on 13-6- 2013 with the Assistance of other suspects, Alifa Maha and Isiaka Yunusa respectively who are both from Ofojo village in Ofu local Government Area. The suspects alleged that Hon Yahaya the councillor representing Alojim ward in Ofu Local Government Area contracted them to provide human head for him. They would soon be arraigned in court.” [H/T Tribune]
