Amaechi, Jang In A War Of Words Over NGF Chairmanship

Amaechi-Jang-300x215
Governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and Jonah Jang of Plateau State were, yesterday, locked in a war of words over their claims to the chairmanship of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF.
Amaechi, told his Plateau State colleague to stop impersonating him as chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, and urged him to keep within the bounds of decorum.
Jang in a riposte dismissed Amaechi’s charge as funny. Jang reiterated his claim that his endorsement by 19 Northern governors was tantamount to an election, boasting that he was set to show his superior claim at a meeting of the forum he has summoned for today.
The exchange followed Governor Jang’s summon of a meeting of the NGF for today ahead of a scheduled meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan over disputes on the sharing of the federation account for the month of May.
Governor Amaechi while urging governors to honour the meeting with the president, however, disowned the meeting of the NGF summoned by Jang.
Yesterday, several governors stood on their previous positions in the NGF. Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, NSGF, Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, it was learnt, was outside the country and may not send a representative to the Jang meeting. His colleague in Benue State, Mr. Gabriel Suswam who is also outside the country on official assignment, could send a representative to attend the Jang meeting.
“Any meeting called by Governor Jang as chairman of the NGF would be honoured by Governor Suswam,” an aide said. Several other governors, it was learnt, yesterday, stuck to their known positions on the division in the NGF.
Governor Amaechi in a statement yesterday said: “On Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16, reports in the media credited to my brother governor, Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State announced that he has called for a Nigeria Governors’ Forum meeting. Ordinarily I would have ignored these reports as I do not imagine that as governors who hold our people’s mandate through the democratic process of free and fair elections, we would do anything to impugn our integrity.
“However as Chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum, elected by my colleagues to safeguard their integrity and that of the forum, it has become imperative for me to request my brother, Governor Jang, to remain within the confines of decorum and cease to impersonate me and to stop parading himself as NGF chairman. There is only one chairman of the forum, duly elected by a vote tally of 19:16 on Friday, May 24, 2013.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I as chairman of the NGF have not called for any Governors’ Forum meeting for Monday, June 17, 2013. The only meeting scheduled for Monday June 17, is a meeting of all Governors with His Excellency, President Goodluck Jonathan scheduled to hold at 9pm at Aso Rock Villa. All governors should please ensure attendance at this meeting with Mr. President.
“I wish to reassure my brother governors that this storm shall pass and we all will be reunited as one family committed to our nation’s unity and supporting Mr. President in his vision for a Nigeria that safeguards the rights of all its citizens to good governance and democratic norms.
“Governor Jang is my brother and friend and I harbour no ill feelings against him, but it is important that he stops this impersonation, as it could threaten all the good work we all have done together.
“May I remind Governor Jang that there is a legal action that has been instituted against him by Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State to stop him from parading himself as the chairman of NGF. As leaders elected by our people, Nigerians are closely watching us. We must comport ourselves according to the dictates and principles of democratic and lawful practices and norms.”
Responding to Amaechi, Jang through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ayuba Pam described Amaechi’s assertion as funny.
Asserting that he was elected by the majority of governors and was in no way impersonating anybody, Jang said:
“It is funny to say that a man who was nominated by consensus by the Northern governors who are 19 and presented to the larger meeting of the governors would impersonate anybody. It is all about who is in charge of the forum and tomorrow’s (today’s) meeting convened by Jang will show who really has the support of majority of the governors.
“We do not want to join issues with Governor Amaechi because he is still a member of the governors’ family and just like Governor Jang has said repeatedly, this is a family problem that would be resolved amicably.
“All we can do is to appeal to Governor Amaechi to extend the same cooperation that Jang gave him when he was the chairman of the forum to Jang. Jang was always among the first governors to be in Abuja each time he (Amaechi) called a meeting and we urge him to reciprocate this. We even encourage him to attend tomorrow’s meeting convened by Jang because the agenda is for the benefit of every state”, he said. [Vanguard]

President Jonathan Encourages Governors To Sign Death Warrants As He Laments Increasing Lack Of Discipline

Jonathan with guitar
President Goodluck Jonathan has urged state governors to continue signing death sentences passed on convicted criminals, saying that as leaders, their responsibilities include doing both the “sweet and the ugly part” as long as it is sanctioned by law.
Speaking, yesterday, at the Villa Chapel to commemorate the Fathers’ day celebration, president Jonathan expressed worry that discipline which used to be the hallmark of the family is gradually degrading because of negative influence of modernism.
“These days, because of modern life, discipline is almost gone. Discipline can be in various forms. In the states, it could be admonition. Magistrate can just admonish and allow him to go. From admonition to various forms of punishments, it could be imprisonment. The extreme is capital punishment.
“In the case of capital punishment, the state governors will sign (the death sentence). Even governors sometimes find it difficult to sign. I have been telling the governors that they must sign because that is the law. The work we are doing have a very sweet part and a very ugly part and we must perform both. No matter how painful it is, it is part of their responsibilities” the president said.
The president said fathers are expected to be role models, and they must not fail to discipline their children when necessary.
“I want to urge all of us who are fathers to discipline our children. No matter what you do, even if you show love and provide the needs of the family, if you don’t discipline your children, it is not good. So for us as parents, it is important for us to let our children constantly know that it is good to take the right path. It is good for them to know that they must be upright” the president said.
Present at the special service were the Delta State governor Emmanuel Uduaghan who was the special guest of honour, President’s mother, Eunice Jonathan; Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State; Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife; Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Tony Anenih; members of the Federal Executive Council; new Controller-General of Immigration, Mr. David Paradang; Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr. Ade Abolurin; and members of the National Assembly.
Others were the Ambassador of Ireland in Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Fhearghail; the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Uriel Palti; former House Leader, Tunde Akogun; Ndidi Elumelu, among others.

SMEDAN To Create Five Million Jobs Before 2015

SMEDAN

Speaking at an interactive session with journalists in Abuja recently, Director-General of the agency, Alhaji Bature Masari, said with NEDEP, it would be easier to implement the One Local Government, One Product, OLOP, scheme across the country.
“NEDEP would cover all states of the federation and Abuja with a view to conducting survey of every product being produced in each local government as part of the strategies mapped out by SMEDAN to achieve the goal.
“Our objective is that within the few years of implementing NEDEP and other programmes to be initiated, we will generate an estimated five million direct and indirect jobs.
“I came here with a mission. My mission is to contribute immensely to the growth of MSMEs all over the country. MSMEs play the lead role in creating additional employments, wealth generation and poverty reduction”, Masari said.
“Part of our strategy is to create new clusters of businesses based on competitive and comparative advantages already identified through the OLOP initiative and raw materials mapping in the 774 local governments,” he added.

He said the pilot scheme has started in Kano and Niger states, stressing that it was developed to create jobs, generate wealth and eradicate poverty in the country.
This, according to him, would be done through the micro, small and medium enterprises, MSMEs sector for effective skills training and acquisition as well as business services development.
“Mr. President has promised his continued support for SMEDAN and we are ready to promote the growth and development of MSMEs in the country. SMEDAN has just opened new offices in 11 states and we want to cover all states before the end of the year.
“SMEDAN is being reorganised to make it more effective. The Federal Government is planning to launch the National Council of MSMEs, comprising the federal, state and local governments to manage the economy for rapid development of the country”, he said,” Masari said.
According to him, “if we are going to develop our economy and turn our quantity advantage into productive advantage, one of the most important sectors that we have to focus on is the MSME sector”.
Masari noted that aggressive awareness creation about its activities, especially at the grassroots will enable the populace benefit from its programmes, this he said the agency will embark on.

Eagles Go For Tahiti’s Jugular

Today in the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, African champions, the Super Eagles will begin their Confederations Cup chase with a Group B match against Tahiti, who are the champions of Oceania.

Sixty three years ago, the Brazilian city was the location for one of the biggest upsets in footballing history, USA’s win over England during the 1950 FIFA World Cup. Should Tahiti emulate that result, shock-waves will be felt across world football.
Tahiti have been in Brazil since 7 June, while Nigeria touched down eight days later, laving many to think that the extra preparation time benefit the islanders?
The Super Eagles will be looking to take an early lead at the top of Group B by giving their goal difference a significant boost against a team who are 107 places below them in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. With Uruguay and Spain lying in wait, Stephen Keshi’s side will be looking to put their part-time opponents to the sword. Tahiti meanwhile are daring to dream.
This is the pair’s first meeting at international level, although they did square up at the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2009 in Egypt. Nigeria prevailed 5-0 on that occasion, a first-round match held in Cairo when Obiora Nwankwo, Ibok Edet, Kehinde Fatai, Nurudeen Orelesi and Daniel Adejo were on target.
Nigeria are one of two undefeated sides in the FIFA Confederations Cup, the other being Denmark. The Super Eagles went unbeaten in their previous participation in 1995, earning one win, two draws and losing only on penalties to Mexico in the match for third place.
Eagles defender, Efe Ambrose said that the Eagles are ready for the Tahiti tie
“It is a match we know we need to win and, to do that, we need to be fully concentrated. We cannot afford to take any chances. Big shocks have happened before in these kind of tournaments and we don’t want to be the victims this time,” said the Celtics defender.
On his part, Tahiti striker, Steevy Chong Hue said that they were not going to be awed by their more illustrious foes.
“For an amateur player it is a dream to face the best players in the world. However for it not to become a nightmare we have to keep working really hard so we are ready for the first game,” he said.

Another letter from the grave: These words of ‘an abused wife’ will move you to tears (READ)

Grimshaw_TW_grave_6238
This article titled “I Bid You Farewell by Late Dolapo Goodgod” is somewhat of a satirical piece and the author cannot be verified but it’s an incredible moving story that would bring you to tears.
Read it here:

I bid you farewell………………… ………………………..
I am grateful to God that I will rest in His bosom and I am more grateful because I have always wanted this opportunity to speak my mind even unto death. I guess you are surprised that even the dead can air an opinion; in my case I really wanted to because I knew that God was preparing a place for me and that is where I will be. Do not weep for so long because I found eternal peace in Him. The very peace that has eroded me in about twelve years of my God given years (at the time of this writing I am forty-one years of age and I have been married for twelve years). This is my story………
I am Yetunde nee Olotu as I am fondly called by my immediate family in Nigeria but here I am being referred to as Omodolapo Jagha as named by the love of my life. Now, I am Dolapo GoodGod , the surname I adopted when I realized that I no longer have a husband who will be there for me. The very man I should expect to be the Master of ceremony at my burial, the man you think would miss my departure the most but unfortunately not. I believe my estranged husband is glad that he is now free from the bondage called marriage.
Noble Jagha, I hope you feel so happy now that your prophesy to Maryam Hassan and other girlfriends of yours that I will soon die so you can marry them is now fulfilled. The truth is that my body may be dead but my hope of glory in heaven is constant as God lives. I may not be here again but I am so sure you will never find anyone to love you the way I did…… You were my first love, the very man who deflowered me but turned his back on me years after that I was not good on bed (not sexy enough for you), I was not good at cooking but I managed to learn and cook your local meal of Starch and Banga.
He said, “I was so paranoid” because I complained that you are only comfortable making phone calls in the car and returning home at midnight. You finally abandoned me and the children in December, 2012 after all the mental and physical abuse I suffered from you. You could not face the wrath of law as I got a safety and protection order against you because I was afraid that you would eventually take my life. While you lived with us, you were of no use, as you were not readily available to do your matrimonial and fatherly duties. How painful it was to take the twins to school walking all the way from Ongar to Little Pace, sometimes after getting a chemo.
Even when I pleaded with you to look after the kids when I have appointments at the hospital you refused. Thank God for the Irish government (HSE) that provided me with home help (Margaret), my cousin, grandma Odelade, Sola and S. Bimbo (my wonderful sisters in church), my friend, confidant (Gbemi) who stuck to me like a sister, she is known in all our kids’ school as their guardian because you were not there. You found solace in your numerous, “your attraction” as you referred to the choir leader and probably your new sizzling romance Sheila Luxembor whom you kept my kids with without my consent. I hope she told you I rang her and made peace with her when I did no wrong (Yeah, I did this to secure my heaven).
Hhhhmmmm……….the  Lord is my strength.
Oti, how do you feel after physically and mentally tormenting me? You can now be happy that “the living corpse” (as you often referred to me) in your home has finally gone to be with God. You no longer have to hit me or pounce on me anymore. In death I have forgiving you because I loved you but I hope you are able to forgive yourself…….? I cannot forget in a minute how I felt so let down that I took to my heels and sought refuge in that sister’s place and later on at the women’s refuge.
I am sure your defence is that I died as a cancer patient but I believe I could live a day longer if you were there for me…… I went through the pains of Cancer lonely! Rather than supporting, you rejected me. Isn’t marriage meant to be for better or for worse.….? I hope when I remember how childish you were for taking the boot you bought for me and returning the wrist watch I bought for you I can peacefully sigh a relief for leaving this cruel world. You were so mean to me! Oti, you were really mean to Emmanuella too. How could you ill-treat your own children because they are girls? I have all the horrible text messages you sent to me documented; psychologically you killed me before my death.
Pastor Jagha, a man of God! The church has failed in their duty to help you from fallen, they have pampered you for doing wrong in order to save their face and invariably they have failed me. Church is meant for sinners irrespective of their position and as such no one should be above chastising. I hope after my demise our father in the Lord would have enough evidence to correct the wrong of my beloved husband.
No wonder my so-called husband was able to trick the church who also lured me to take off the safety and protection order and stop me from getting a separation that I so long for. On my dying bed I made copies of telephone bills showing his immoral communication with a worker in the church at Athlone but there was still no sufficient evidence……… The church that should be a place of refuge became a place of torment for me.
I hope you can also enjoy your new relationship with Sheila, I learnt you told some of your church members that I asked her to look after my kids because I was sick in the hospital whereas she keeps malice with me just because of your sex romp with her. Oti, you left my children at home for two days and went to sleep with your girl friend in Athlone. You also asked my under-aged children to travel on bus to Athlone by themselves while I was on the hospital bed. I loved you but you failed me and you know it.
The bitter pill that I have to swallow is the fact that I can no longer be there for my lovely girls .Their beloved father despised them so because I could not make a male child (you claimed that I was unable to have a boy child because I did not drink from the anointing oil which you asked me to drink and that makes you detest me too). I am deeply sorry that I did not drink it; maybe that would have spared me of some lashes. Our lovely first daughter at age twelve said, “Mummy I don’t think I will get married” This is as a result of the abuse that my child suffered from our marriage… If you are a loved one and you know my daughter, please help me say to her that marriage is to be enjoyed and not endured….. I want her to be married and make me proud!
Oti, why do you always run away from your problems rather than resolving them? You left Nigeria because of your involvement in fraud at the bank which you never resolved. As I speak you owe my mother a sum of one million, two hundred thousand naira which you have no plan to repay. How come you had issues even with your own sibling in the U.K to such an extent that you poisoned her…..? That is the more reason why I was so scared for my life. You are such a difficult person, the community welfare officer , our GP, Olive at Hartstown , the Child protection unit at Finglas and our father in the Lord tried their best to advise you to no avail. You were not ready to make me happy.
Noble Jagha, you wanted me dead as soon as possible. I still wonder why you refused to come with me for separation times and again when I asked that we should part ways. I know your intent may be to make gains from my years of labour at Anpost. I worked so hard to pay the rent, to feed us and even paid some of your fees to pursue your MBA. Despite all my effort you were never satisfied, even on my sick bed you demanded for money…..I hope you are happy that you have them all and you can feed your numerous girlfriends with them. I plead with you and I besiege all that reads this to appeal to you that you do the following after my demise which is of utmost importance (I hope you will heed advice for once).
1. That you may put in trust/fixed deposit for my daughters all monies raised from my burial and benefits from my workplace having paid all expenses incurred and other personal loan taking from my friends during my period of illness. My daughters need to know I care for them even in my grave.
2. That, I have a will in which I have named the executors to my will and joint custodians of our children. The lawyer will keep you posted in due course, please adhere!
3. Oti you can also pay any money that you owe from the monies before the account is opened.
4. Kindly pay my mother the money you owe her too before the account is fixed.
5. I want my mother to be a part of my children’s life, please don’t deprive her.
6. Oti make peace with my family and friends (stop making enemies out of the people that helps me).
Oti, it may surprise you but I have to let you know that I have the password to your facebook account and email accounts! How come I am not on your friend list? Why did you also refuse to tell me the cause of your mother’s death? I know she died of cancer! Hmmmm
Oti does not love me; he could not stay with me in sickness despite the fact that I loved him more than my children. Hhmmmm
I hope my mother can forgive me for not heeding her advice in respect of my choice of marriage and I pray that God gives her and my father the fortitude to bear this irreparable lost.
It is too late to cry when the head is off.
Thank you for not leaving me alone in my time of troubles and needs my sisters, thank you sister for going to Olive’s school, please follow up with Emmanuel as planned, I don’t want my children to suffer. I am so worried …..I am tired.
I don’t want you people to go, don’t leave me alone. I want someone to sleep here with me tonight.
signed.

Cole set to feel Mourinho wrath after being caught smoking.

Jose Mourinho's return to Chelsea may be welcomed by the majority of those connected with the Blues - but it could see Ashley Cole's first team chances go up in smoke next season.

The left-back was caught with a cigarette as he left a rented Los Angeles pad with friends while on holiday, and has been seen in the city's clubs displaying a chain-smoking habit.

Although Cole has been spotted smoking before, it was after Mourinho's first tenure as Chelsea boss and the 50-year-old will be far from impressed with the England international.
As Real Madrid boss last season, Mourinho dropped another full-back in Fabio Coentrao after the Portugal star was seen with a cigarette outside of a restaurant - later protesting that he wasn't a regular smoker.
Friends close to Cole have warned him of his unhealthy habit, which could pose a problem with Mourinho.

A pal said: 'Ashley always smokes heavily during his annual summer holiday in LA. Even some of his friends have told him it is stupid.
'He has been spotted smoking before, but Mourinho wasn’t his boss then. He is known for expecting the best standards from his players and will not be impressed.'
Cole was signed by Mourinho in the summer of 2006 from Arsenal in a £5million deal that also saw William Gallas go the opposite way to north London.
The full-back quickly established himself as an important member of Mourinho's first team before the Portuguese boss was axed as manager just over a year later.

Suarez is keen on Real Madrid and Mourinho gets tough

Luis Suarez is clearly keen to alienate the one set of football fans who still like him, Mourinho wants his players to behave and Sven Goran Eriksson is preparing to launch his brand of football on the Chinese. Lucky them.

Chelsea star Juan Mata insists he has not been told he is surplus to requirements under new manager Jose Mourinho and is ignoring stories to the contrary.

Thomas Rogne, who played for Norway in their European Under-21 Championships win over England, is being chased by several Championship clubs including Middlesbrough and Birmingham City.

Dougie Freedman has warned Jermaine Beckford he will not break the bank to take him to Bolton.

West Ham midfielder Gary O’Neil wants to stay at Upton Park despite being named on the Premier League’s free transfer list, which was released on Friday.

ARSENAL have been warned they face a major fight to keep £15 million-rated defender Laurent Koscielny, as well as experienced right-back Bacary Sagna.

Laurent Koscielny (left) and Bacary Sagna (right) could both depart Arsenal this summer
Bayern Munich and Barcelona are hot on the trail of Frenchman Koscielny this summer.

The 27-year-old has already opened the exit door by claiming he could walk away if the Gunners fail to show ambition in the transfer market.

And his agent Stephane Courbis has now fuelled fresh talk that the player, who has four years left on his contract, is a target for the European giants.

He said: “There is interest. I know that Laurent is part of a short list of three or four players for both clubs.”

Arsene Wenger would be loath to lose the centre-back, who has just enjoyed his best season since joining Arsenal in a £8.5m switch from Lorient three years ago.

But Koscielny’s words echo those of Robin van Persie, who left the Emirates for Manchester United last summer.

The Dutchman identified the club’s lack of drive to win major trophies as a key reason behind his decision to quit.

Bacary Sagna’s future also remains in doubt after he refused to rule out a return to France for a “new challenge”.

Big spenders PSG and Monaco are keen on bringing the French international right-back across the Channel.

LIONEL Messi overtook Diego Maradona’s goal tally for Argentina with a hat-trick in the 4-0 friendly win away to Guatemala.

The Barcelona superstar completed his third hat-trick for his country early in the second half.
Messi’s goal total for Argentina now stands at 35, one more than Maradona. He is now level with Hernan Crespo as the country’s second-highest scorer, though Gabriel Batistuta remains way out in front with 56.

“That was the least important thing,” Messi told TyC Sports when he was asked about overtaking Maradona’s tally. “We wanted to play well in this friendly. The team’s attitude was right.”

Assassination Attempt: I’m Not Distracted, Says Fayose

Assassination Attempt: I’m Not Distracted, Says Fayose

Former Ekiti State governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, has said that he was not distracted by the attempt made to kill him last Tuesday by yet-to-be identified assassins, saying rather, it will strengthen him more in his determination to defeat Governor Kayode Fayemi at next year’s governorship poll.
His declaration came as the Campaign Director General of Ayo Fayose for Governor, Mr. Owoseni Ajayi, asked the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
In a statement  signed by the Director of Publicity and Research of Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation (AFCO), Mr. Idowu Adelusi, in Ado Ekiti Saturday, Fayose said the attack has added impetus to his resolve to ensure that the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) government was sacked from the Ekiti Government House next year.

“I am unpertubed by the attack and I cannot be intimidated. The spate of violence in the state, the murder of Ayodele Jeje and the attempt on my life are making the ACN government more unpopular. I am advising all my supporters not to get disturbed. God is my refuge,” Fayose said in the statement.
Meanwhile, the Campaign Director General of Ayo Fayose for Governor, Ajayi, has urged the police to unmask the attackers, saying the police should not wait until life is lost before they take drastic measure to curb violence in the state.

He said that the attack on Fayose has exposed the plan of the ACN government to eliminate him and other People Democratic Party (PDP) leaders   before next year’s election.

I work with secular singers to gain souls - KSB Reveals

However you may rate her music, Kenny Saint Brown will be mentioned as one of the prominent gospel singers in Nigeria.

KSB, as she is fondly called has been in the music industry for almost two decades and in this interview with Abimbola Adebayo, she talked about her music and marriage.

Though, she now wants to be referred to as Kenny Saint Best after filing for divorce after her marriage to Eddy Asiedu Brown crashed in a most controversial way, KSB has moved on with her life and seems to be growing stronger as a gospel singer who had remained relevant, even when those that started with her are no longer there.

She has churned out many hit songs like 'Turn me around', Mo ti goke', 'Heaven came down' and 'You are worthy.'

She remains the only gospel singer who has continuously featured non-gospel singers in her songs, an action that have always generated argument that her song tends towards secular music.

Your sing gospel songs but feature secular musicians most times.
It not really the music, It just because I work with mainstream artistes because I don't want to call them secular because will are all secular. If when we go to church to worship, you understand that we are more spiritual. The moment you stepped out of the church, we are in a secular world. The news, the songs we watch on TV show that we are in a secular world. My music is not secular but the people I work with do secular music and they are the ones I work with because I want to use them to take gospel music to their fans. I am buying into their fan base. I am taking life to them. If I don't buy to their fan base, how can I take my kind of gospel music to them?

Gospel music and its listeners.
Gospel music is beyond the church. I had done that over the years and now God is using me to take gospel music to parties, clubs, prisons to people who ordinarily would not listen to gospel music but when you tell them God is 'Alaye Baba' they would listen because you are using their language to relate with them. God says in his word, occupy their heart, he didn't say occupy the church, so I'm using people they can easily identify with to preach on the street, to prostitutes in a way that they can identify with'. It is a revelation to me and I am working on the revelation. The most things that God has given to us are in the secular world. I think of the people on the street, the prostitute who would be inspired by my song.

Why people have said she can't sign to another label.
I formed Kennis Music for my brother. I told him we should start a record label and he accepted. He also needed the platform to sell me. I recruited the first star. I was the one that trained the staff. By then, my brother was the general manager of Daar Communication and was promoting the company while I was doing the marketing, productions and managing. So it was not that I'm on my brother label. I am on my own label and again, if after fourteen years, and I am getting better, why should I leave? Am I the only one on her brother’s label?

Her journey as a musician
In about fourteen years in the music industry, I want everyone to agree that I have improved on my skill as a musician because I have undergone self re-evaluation. I want people to see and project me in terms of the longitivity, the tenacity, consistency, that has stood me out after so many years. I have remained true to my colour. I have been able to raise similar artiste, a prodigy, who had become a brand on her own and that is no other than Essence.

About Marriage
Please, don't discuss marriage with me. You can ask me question that will promote me as a person and also my work. My marriage is an old issue and I don't think anyone is still going to be interested in that. But ask me about what will promote my life and work. But right now I am not thinking about marriage, I'm happy with my life right now.

Collaboration with other artiste
I am the only gospel singer who has worked with many non gospel artistes like El Dee Da Don, Jawon, Essence, Ruggedman and many others and I still have plans to work with others in the industry in the future. They too believe in God as everyone else and some of their songs are very inspiring.

Her background.

I started my higher education at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and from there, I moved to, Ogun State University now Olabisi Onabanjo University where I studied English Arts for my first degree. I later went to the University of Benin, where I obtained my Masters Degree in Multinational Corporations and International Finance. I also hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Theology from the RCCG Bible College.

A member of an organised criminal gang made up of a woman, her brother and three others  has expressed regrets becoming a thief saying he had planned to become a police officer.

“My role in the gang is to push the victim out of our vehicle but I am always careful so that he will not fall and hit his head against a stone or hard object,” Emmanuel Ochi, also known as General said.

“I am a student of Olabisi Olabanjo University, Ogun State and I am in 300 level studying Crime Investigation. I intended to enlist in Nigeria Police Force when I graduate. I want to become a police detective.

“It is God that will decide. If I regain my freedom I will stand a chance. Even if I am jailed, I may get state pardon. Everything depends on God.”

28-year-old Anita Ekechukwu who was arrested with her brother, Sunday Ekechukwu said she became thief because she was unemployed, adding that it was better than prostitution and her brother had introduced her to it.

“I am a member of the gang but we do not operate with gun. I am from Owerri, in Imo State. I am unemployed but I live at Lekki with my elder brother, Sunday, who is a building contractor,” she said.

“I joined the gang because I could not secure any reasonable employment.

“I joined the gang this year and I was given the telephone number of a bureau de change operator. I told him I wanted to buy $30,000. The next day, he sent his brothers who brought the dollars. I then told the man that we were going to a bank where I would pay him the naira equivalent. On the way to the bank, we collected the money from the man and pushed him out of the vehicle.”

The Lagos State Police Command had also arrested Benedict Nwadike, and George Emmanuel, aka Force Man both members of the same gang.

The Punch reports:
According to the police authorities, the suspects were arrested while robbing bureau de change operators of millions of naira at different times.

Narrating how the suspects operated, a source at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad said Anita would pose as a customer and convince the bureau de change operator to enter a vehicle with her only to rob him.

The source said, “Anita would go to a bank and say she wanted to buy foreign currency knowing well that banks do not sell foreign currency to just anyone.

“The bankers would introduce her to a bureau de change operator and they would establish contact. Later, she will call them for a huge transaction in a vehicle.

“When the victim enters the vehicle, her colleagues would come in another vehicle, abduct the victim, rob him of his money at gunpoint and then throw him out of the vehicle.”

PUNCH Metro learnt that the robbers were arrested while trying to rob one Sanusi of $80,000 (N12.8m).

The police source said the robbers operated around a bank in Lekki and had boarded their vehicle when policemen intercepted them.

He said, “They organised another operation. Already police were aware that the gang was about to operate around the area. The robbers had already abducted their victim, when the police swooped on them and arrested them. The robbers then revealed the location of the others. The police recovered the money collected from the victim.”
